Susan Brinton: President, Suebee Media
Susan is a senior business consultant specializing in the creative industries in BC and Canada, and in particular their relationship with both the traditional and digital media sectors. She has a successful track record in research and analysis, strategic planning and organizational positioning, as well as creative policy development and implementation for organizations including the Canadian Media Production Association, Creative BC, Documentary Organization of Canada, Telefilm Canada and the Canada Media Fund.
She has diverse expertise in program and project management given Susan’s experience as a senior broadcasting executive and policy advisor, business affairs consultant, content producer/director and university lecturer for both Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia.
Her educational background includes a Masters Degree in Communication, Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, diploma in Documentary and Small Unit Production and international certification as a PRINCE2 Project Manager. Other courses include BCIT’s Web Development and Design program, Project Management for the IT industry, and Interactive Storytelling.
Susan has served on numerous industry boards and committees (including Canadian Women in Communications, Women in Film + Television Vancouver, Women in Film and Television International) and taught university broadcasting, policy and production courses. She has authored or co-authored a number of published industry reports, including Growing the Pie – Alternative Financing and Canadian Documentary (2014) and Getting Real 5: An Economic Profile of the Canadian Documentary Industry for the Documentary Organization of Canada (2013); and From The Margins to the Mainstream: Moving BC’s Creative Industries Forward (2012) for the CMPA-BC, Music BC, the Association of BC Book Publishers and Magazines BC.
